Tip: if you plan to play the game, there are many side quests. They are totally optional. Just continue the main quest when you start to feel burnt out trying to unlock the 50th tower in the area. Also, don't feel like you need to grind for exp/ap. When you finish the game to unlock chapter select you will be able to replay with triple exp/ap bonuses applied top all characters in your party. Since difficulty doesn't change how much you earn, set it on easy and walk around the open areas (check YouTube for optimized routes) and see your levels skyrocket in literally 30 minutes.

The only sidequest I went out of my way to finish before finishing the game the first time is Queens Blood. The extra story bits that unlock as you beat more ranked card players was intriguing enough to keep playing. The game itself I feel would have more mileage if 2 players could play with their own decks, as otherwise you can rely on a starter/midtier deck and win most of the time. The final boss was hard until you understood the "gimmick" and picked cards for counterplay.

I recently finished the game on PS5, got a similar price last black friday. Took me about 110 hours to get through the story and do all the side quests and stuff.

I'm still 8-9 trophies away from 100% but I will never do that. There are some infuriatingly frustrating mini games that are required to 100% / platinum the game. I could practice for hours and hours and get them all but I realized I have zero interest in doing completely unfun stuff just to get a few trophies i won't care about at all.

So yeah, thats the only thing I'd say, while I really enjoyed the game it is crazy long and if you feel like you are a completionist the game may be extremely frustrating for you. If you just wanna enjoy a good story its pretty good. I think I liked Remake a little bit more but there was a lot of breadth and depth in rebirth.

Playing through FF7 remake right now. Beat the original as a kid. I'll wait to buy this when I finished the 1st Remake, probably around BF when I bet this price goes down even more.

This was a good bit better than remake. Just an enjoyable game all around. The ending is meh, but didn't ruin the game.

Saves don't carry over to each new Part. But if you unlocked some summons in Part 1, they will be available to you in Part 2. That's the only thing that Part 2 checks for in your Part 1 save.

Also, Part 2 is only on PS5, so I don't know if Rebirth will check your PS4 Remake saves. Better to convert the Remake saves to PS5 if you really must.

I'm not some purist, but I really, really didn't like what they did with the story and ending in remake. It was so bad that I lost interest in the remakes in general, but that being said, it seems like this game has overwhelming positive reviews. Is this one a lot different than remake, or is it better to stay away if I didn't like remake?
