The Pixel 8 series went to seven years of support. Personally that's a huge improvement, and worth getting (similarly the Samsung S24 is seven years).

Not if you don't activate it. If you're already on Visible or Verizon you're good to go. It might never unlock though.

Ah Grasshopper, the 7A you can replace the battery by popping off the back, not front, then having to remove everything to get to the battery. If that is important.
