Sam's doesn't sell these, they only have a 4 cube.
That said, I've had this exact 8 cube for a decade now and they're honestly very solid. I use it horizontally as a TV stand, and also bought a 4-cube version too.
This is actually a really good value thing, part of the reason I bought mine so long ago, and why the weight rating of the Walmart one is literally double the IKEA one. IKEA doesn't win, here

On the topic of how much each shelf can hold, the Kallax can hold up to 29lb. This one can hold up to 30lb. However the top shelf is a different matter. This one will in fact support more on the top shelf. This hold 100lb on top vs 55lb on Kallax.
Not everyone needs a 5x5 Kallax. If they did, they wouldn't be considering this. Rather this competes with smaller Kallax units. If you don't need the inserts and other Kallax accessories, this looks like an affordable option compared to the smaller 2x4 Kallax.

Are you sure it wasn't the 6 cube organizer? It's on rollback for $39.
They have the 12 cube in rustic gray for $59. 43.35"x57.4"x15.35". White is also marked down to $69.

Appears to be 13" x 13" and records are typically 12" x 12" so yeah should be perfect.
