You can plug it into one of your free hdmi ports on your video card. Unless you have none left, of course.

It's the reason why when you watch a movie, it's quiet during dialogue parts and then you get a heart attack when action sequence come blasting out of no where lol.

No, 2.1 means 2 speaks + sub woofer. 5.1 means 4 speaks, center speak, and sub woofer.

The overhead sound effects are virtualized/simulated. Dialogue through the center channel can be adjusted with the soundbar settings too.
Soundbars are mainly tech based so those numbers are just a labeling(selling point imo).
No different than the most expensive soundbars labeling some tiny woofer(s) as a center channel.
