If one were to buy a phone from a carrier or put some payments on an EIP, would that qualify for the 5%?

For only one month?! I have this card but another one I have has the same deal every quarter. Not worth the hassle IMHO for just one month.

yeah this seems pretty useless..how could a normal person/family possibly get anywhere close to $1500 spend in a month on just internet/tv/phone???

and as someone already mentioned, just the sheer hassle of switching everything, and probably paying some processing fee for paying with a credit card

If you're buying a phone for the purpose of buying a phone to use. You might as well wait 3 days. But for $75 maximum upside. It's dumb just to buy a phone because of the %5 off because there are better deals to be had.

It did not for me when I bought a phone from Verizon Prepaid. When I paid with Chase's Ink Cash business card (which always gives 5% on these phone bills/internet categories, not just one month), the transaction coded as "Telecommunication equipment and phone sales", and I only got the standard 1% instead of 5%. Which was kind of infuriating since I have other online cash back cards (such as Amex Blue Cash and BoA Custom Cash) that would have given at least 3% or more.

YMMV with TMobile, but that was my experience with Verizon's coding.

This is dumb/useless if you've already bought $1,500 in Amazon credits.

My cell (Verizon) and Internet (ATT) only provide autopay discount if I pay by debit card...
