I see an open box excellent for $205.
on the edge to take a gable on this one
The ASUS X1404VA is equipped with 8GB of onboard RAM and features one available slot that supports up to 8GB of DDR4-3200MHz Single Channel memory. As a result, the maximum supported RAM capacity for this model is 16GB. https://www.asus.com/laptops/for-.../techspec/
I did test even an older laptop from 2011 that support DDR 3. The spec said max ram is 4G in each ram slot. I tried a 8G DDR3 in one ram slot and it works. I can't find the info I need from the web or from crucial web site. So, I need to test it myself.
I did not want to return it, so I turned that laptop into an Ubuntu system. It works fine now. But running Windows with 4G is almost impossible.
Nope.

It does NOT support usb charging or thunderbolt.
The number -pad on the trackpad is quite annoying, but can be turned off with the asus utilities.
I upgraded the ram to 24gb with a 16gb stick and upgraded the ssd with a 2280 1tb nvme.
Note that if you do a fresh windows install you'll need to have some drivers unpacked on the windows install media.
Specifically wifi and intel vmd storage drivers.
Windows won't find the drive without either installing the drivers during setup(have disk at the hard drvie selection screen during install) or going into the bios and disabling vmd until you finish windows setup and installing the intel rst vmd drivers.
I was actually a little annoyed with it's web browser performance. Windows kept setting the processes to efficiency mode which seemed to keep the cpu usage high on the little cores.
I used Project Lasso to create a rule to disable efficiency mode for chrome, firefox, and brave.
It does great now.
