Dirac Active Room Treatment (ART) should soon be available to purchase for models x3800 and up, but it sounds like it's going to be very expensive.

I bought this thru the PayPal app and was able to apply a 1% cashback deal from Adorama. The discount code worked on the first try with no issues.

ART is rumored to run around $300.
You'll need Dirac Live FB & Dirac Live Bass Control.
That bundle runs $600, that's $900!

I highly recommend looking into A1EVO, very likely you won't need Dirac especially for $900, many are finding out it's a game changer!

It might be worth it since you save so much money on the initial 3800 cost. There's a reason why this AVR costs a bit more than the equivalent PAC AVR: it's got a dual-core SHARC chip that's found all the way up to the flagship A1H! I believe this is a major reason why it is eligible for the ART upgrade (good for at least 1600 MIPS).

I don't know what DSP is in the PAC AVRs (RZ50, etc.) but based on the issues they're having with DLBC, lets just say I don't have a lot of confidence ART is showing up for them. As being able to perform DLBC is a requirement for ART, this rules out the following AVRs that have the base Dirac license:

Onkyo 7100
Integra DRX 3.4
Pioneer 305
Pioneer 505 (never got DLBC and the brand appears to be orphaned)

Finally pulled the trigger on this... kept waiting for a new model to never arrive. Tried to place an order a bunch of times using an amex card directly, but never had success. Switched to google pay, using the same amex card, and worked.

Waiting for a "new model" requires some thought. What would this new model bring to the table that is:
1) already mainstream
2) relevant to the equipment I'm connecting to it

This is why I never rushed to buy an AVR when they all became compatible with active 3D TVs!

The fact that the 3800 will be compatible w/Dirac ART is just gravy as a super unadvertised feature!

I would remind everyone people speculated for years that these PAC AVRs weren't capable supporting DLBC(several reasons giving).

The RZ50 offers it now!
You have to pay to play, nothing is free.

Very few people believe DLBC is worth the cost, ART for another $300….. much more unlikely it being seen as worth it imo.

For people that have no need for more than 9 channel(popular scenario), require/want Dirac but little to no interest with DLBC(very popular mindset).

Two very good alternatives are the Integra DRX3.4 for $569 and the new Onkyo RZ30 for $799.

Both are just as capable, include pre outs, include Dirac Live FB & the RZ30 even has 2 independent sub outs and access to DLBC.

Onkyo paid to add DLBC years later maybe they do the same with the RZ30 regarding ART! 🤔

I haven't figured out a location for my sub that doesn't result in seat to seat variations (nulls). Does either DLBC or A1EVO successfully address that?

If you only have a single sub, you aren't solving seat to seat variations with any software.

Kinda a trick question.
Here is what I would say.

Here is Dirac's description of what Bass Control offers.
I would agree, for me it's the only reason I switched to Dirac.

It applies to whatever amount of subs you use.
People often say there is no benefit with one sub.
Kinda true because results has more to do with the limitation of using one sub and your environment than Bass Control imo.

ART takes this to another level.

Your link didn't work. Is ART a feature or description of what base Dirac does or something that's part of DLBC? I don't know what you mean by ART takes it to another level.
