But yeah, probably still worth putting "Nikon" in the title.

Nikon is pretty good bang for the buck. And most of their high end lenses are good. But they're in the same general category as e.g. Canon and Sony, producing everything from cheap junk to some really great glass. But they are definitely not the "best lenses on the planet", unless you're a fanboi and you've built all of your self-esteem based on the brands you already own.
Nothing wrong with buying Nikon gear. For that matter, nothing wrong with buying Sony or Canon or ... etc. There are basically no bad cameras today, just bad decisions on what you actually need and/or will actually use.
It is notable that nikon lenses are currently top 2 on DXOmark, yet the comparable lenses from sony or canon are not tested. What is telling is that the 85mm f1.2S isn't sharper than the yongnuo 85mm which is less than 1/10th of the price. It is strategically placed near 45.7MP in sharpness score, while yongnuo 85mm can feed A1/A1II's sensor. Yongnuo 85mm, while having very good IQ, is ranked average among many 85mm lenses on sony alpha blog.
Yawn. There's tons of lenses missing from DXO. Hell, they've got the Gen 1 Tamron 70-200 on there, but no G2 (which is phenomenal).
I own lenses both high on the leaderboards and ones that are completely missing. Pro photographers aren't relying on DXO scores.
Yongnuo is getting there, and their 85 looks pretty good, but bang for the buck, I'll keep running my Nikon 1.8G lens on the FTZ adapter for the time being.
Sorry, but you don't know what you are talking about. The Z version of this lens is outstanding and has been a big seller.
