Can this be used to amend clay soil? Planned on letting it sit on top for 6 months or so then topping with compost and planting seed. Not sure if the dye will be bad for soil amending or what kind of wood this actually is (such as shredded scrap treated wood)

Don't think this will decompose as well as natural mulch. And you can usually get natural mulch for free locally.
