Definitely the cheapest I've seen, but I'll be damned if I have to put another launcher on my PC. I'll gladly wait. (GOG won't ever happen with rockstar, so) Steam or nothing.

Even on Steam it requires a Rockstar account and will run the launcher.

Wait, you don't get Epic's free weekly games? You missed out on the Jurassic Park game that is pretty good. edit. unless you're talking about Rockstar but then it doesn't matter where you buy it does it? sorry last edit, you will still need the Rockstar launcher. it's not as obnoxious as Ubisoft but still annoying. nothing pisses me off more than when I launch a game in Steam that has its own DRM and then Ubisoft isn't working or won't set me a two-factor authentication to my email in time to activate the two-factor Authentication. as an adult who doesn't get a ton of time to play games and focuses on one game at time spending half of that time trying to get a God damn Ubisoft launcher to work isn't worth it I will not buy Ubisoft games anymore because of it. which sucks because I like Anno, and winter sports game looked pretty fun but I would not buy it.

Hey just a heads up, if you're going to play Red Dead Online (rdo) on PC it's full of cheaters, griefers, and hackers. Almost unplayable. If you're juat going to play with friends anyway, a great way to solve this is with a mod called rdo lobby manager. It basically creates a private lobby for you and whatever friends you invite. My wife and I use it and the game is so fun again!

They ported from ps3/xb360 to ps4 and then ported that to pc. The pc version has more settings to tweak aside from 60 frames vs 30 on consoles

I do, but only because I'm a chronic deal hunter. I've never actually installed the epic launcher. The games are okay but usually can access them through Game Pass or Steam if I want to play them.

That's true, but I'd rather not fragment my paid collection of games if I can help it. Makes more sense to commit everything to one platform unless it's an absolute screaming deal that won't be matched by another store. In the instance that it's a rockstar title, sure it will install the rockstar launcher, but since all of my other games (including ones that don't require their dev company launcher) are on Steam, it only makes sense to continue all new purchases through Steam too. Usually the sales will be matched across all platforms at some point so it just becomes a game of patience at the very worst.

If that works for you, but if you want the best deals you have to jump around. Ubisoft for example had the latest Crew for $20.99 on Steam, but $21 directly from them. But they had a coupon that took $10 off only on their site. And the game goes through their launcher.

I just use PlayNite to catalog all my games, you can have it also launch the installations and actual games. It's not completely seamless 100% of the time, but it works well enough.

Oh that's cool I knew some launchers like that exist, but never looked any further into them. I also like Steam as a company and want to support them, so I would personally justify buying that game through Steam, even when it costs an extra $10. It's just easier all around to just install steam and then boom there's 90% of my entire game purchases. I even pay for several years of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate just to ensure I have it at the cheapest price. Gives me an opportunity to try out new releases before buying on steam, or games that I wouldn't ever purchase on their own. Sure it's not a conventional frugal approach, but value is also measured in utility, not just currency.
