What "serious outdoor" situation are you envisioning that is going to involve jetting water or worse? I think we can all agree this wasn't designed for tactical maritime operations or scuba adventures

IPX0 – No protection
IPX1 – Shields from dripping water
IPX2 – Guards against vertically dripping water
IPX3 – Fends off sprays up to 60°
IPX4 – Repels splashing water, from any angle (AKA, really bad rain)
IPX5 – Defends against water jets in all directions
IPX6 – Stands tall against powerful water jets
IPX7 – Holds its ground in water up to 3 feet (1 meter)
IPX8 – Thrives when immersed in water over 3 feet

I bought this light the last time they were on sale. I feel they are too dim for most situations. Maybe a light in the bathroom during a power outage, but not much more.

Seems to have long runtime and can run on as few as 2xAAs in a pinch, but it's only IPX4 so it's not that suitable for serious outdoor. Good price for an indoor emergency lantern.

I have this and 250 lumen is low for spotlight/target lighting but it's super practical if you're trying to illuminate a work surface and not burn out your retinas looking at it for an extended period of time. Think prepping a meal while camping at night and you don't want to drain headlamp battery or if you have a group over and the lawn games go late.

At $6 don't think about it too hard.

If you don't already have one. I recommend having at least a couple lights that run on regular old batteries. Great to have in a pinch.

FYI got a couple of these a few weeks ago when they were on sale & some of them were duds. But the ones that do work are great. Have one hanging in the garage, hall closet & under the kitchen sink just in case of brown & black outs.

I was trying to figure out the batteries used (2 or 4 AA).

I love the battery life in the technical details section (listing in scientific notation)

I own two of these. Bought when they were two for under $10. They put out great light for such a very lightweight device. The best part is that they work on two batteries each instead of four. I am very satisfied with them.

I put rechargeable lithium AAs in these and they last forever. They're also much brighter than nimh rechargeables because they can sustain 1.5v

I ordered these and FYI the issue you are likely experiencing is the same as I had: putting rechargeable AAs in them.

They don't work well with the lower voltage NiMHs produce. They are MUCH brighter if you put single-use Alkalines in them. Poor design but if you're aware of it it might still be a good deal
