I got this on steam at some point and felt like I was always missing the point beyond just hopping around and never really having consequences for mistakes. I get that it's navigating trauma or some such, but I wasn't able to piece anything together about the gameplay beyond 'jump around and get to stuff'.

I get that, I liked that you didn't have to "fight anything" but there was still a goal. Maybe more than anything, I thought the artwork and style were unlike any other game I've played.

Superb game, an absolute visual and auditory masterpiece! Puzzles are quite fun and just right difficulty-wise. The type of game that I feel everyone should experience.

Gris is more of an "experience" than a game, think of games like "Journey" and "Flower"... It really is art that uses the medium to express The five stages of grief/loss: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance.

The game doesn't hold your hand, there's no talking/speech/text , and you MAYBE get a couple of very small one sentence pieces of instructions via pop ups. You interpret things the way you see them, especially if YOU have ever dealt with loss and or being in a "dark" place emotionally/mentally.

The one thing I highly recommend, is that there are pieces of "memories" that you can collect. the game doesn't tell you about them and you'll have no idea they exist or what they're for, so maybe look somewhere online on collecting them. Once you collect them, you'll get like this cut scene (after you finish the game) that can really help clarify things a little bit.

There's also achievements but you'll have no idea what those are or how to get them , unless you look em up.
