This laptop has an Intel Lunar Lake processor - one of the best for thin and light laptops.

Zenbook s14 really doesn't have build quality with this price tag.

Also 16gb for a 256v $1k. Go ahead and get some AMD

What's wrong with the build quality? 2.6 lbs, 13mm, almost no flex seems pretty good to me.

I picked up one of these up a recent open box deal while my HP OmniBook Ultra Flip 14" is with HP for repair (it's been with HP for repair for 6 weeks now which is abysmal performance on HP's part). I think I may like the Asus better. It's a little lighter, but I think the main thing is that the screen has less glare. The HP is really glossy. The one thing the HP has going for it is the haptic touchpad, but it occasionally misses/lags which is super annoying to not get any response. I also could not get my Pixel Buds Pro 2 to work with the HP, but they work with the Asus.

Have you actually seen and held one in real life? I bought one for my daughter 2 months ago. It is one of the nicest Windows laptop chassis I have ever seen. So incredibly thin and yet still manages to have touchscreen OLED, HDMI, and USB-A. No flex whatsoever. It feels lighter than 2.6lbs yet feels incredibly solid. I would say build quality is its best quality along with battery life and heat management. My daughter says the fan basically never kicks in (or she doesn't notice it).

The S16 with its AMD processor is a different story. Still great build quality but many complaints about how hot it gets and how much the fan comes on.

Personally I would take less fan, better battery life for less processing power which is why I prefer Lunar lake over the AMD AI processors.

I do agree at 1k it is not worth it. Open box was available for around 750-780 at BB, not sure if it's still available, but you may lose the Asus warranty if you buy Asus BB open box. (it's now $762-822)
