Cheap enough, just be aware it doesn't use the Unifying receiver (or BT for that matter).

"Please be informed that the Mk270 is not compatible with unifying receiver."

iykyk = unifying is the GOAT

As noted, not unifying receiver compatible. This is potentially a big deal if the mouse or kbd gets damaged, in which case you're down to one dongle per device. Or if you want to add another peripheral like their wireless headset, it can't be tied to an existing unifying receiver keeping USB ports free.
While it may be cheap, it's not a good value because of its proprietary-dongle nature.

Agreed, some hardware is just too personal to share.

Convenience aside, those unifying receivers are pretty irrelevant.

They don't use them with their performance hardware for good reason.

Spend another $5 and get a USB hub.

I won't disagree. But if the choice is the MK270 or a more versatile, compatible set up with unifying, go with unifying every time. That's my only point.

Does this mouse work with fabric? E.g. that of a couch? Need one to connect to my HTPC.

Depends on the type of fabric, most mouse pads also have a fabric surface. Darker fabrics in particular should always work.
