I've been trying to figure out if this is worth it and found that it's been around $299.. possibly on and off. Just sharing in case it helps anyone.

I have an older version, the black label. It was my daily driver for years until I got a Fiio R2R.

I got this one a year ago for $350 before they dropped price to $300. I really like it and use it all the time. I have some better DACs and amps, but they generate a lot of heat, so I tend to use this one as 3-season dac/amp that is good enough and switch to better equipment in the winter when extra heat is more of a benefit. But... I find that this little gem is good enough that I often do not feel like switching to bigger guns anyway.

Anyway, I have a good assortment of decent IEMs and large over-the-ear headphones, and iFi iDsd Micro works well enough with all of them. Having 'bass boost' switch is helpful with some headphones that are a little too 'neutral'.

It is not a 'true' balanced amp, if that matters to you, but I just care about end result - and it is good.

Also, I had first version of it, and original was really hard on the battery (when plugged in most of the time) and killed it after couple years. This version is supposedly have charging logic improved to go easier on the battery when left plugged in, but I do not know yet how well it is going to work - unfortunately it is not something simple like being able to limit charging to 80%, it is some 'smart' logic with poorly defined activation conditions and unclear changes in charging behavior.

I currently have a Qudelix 5k and love it. The app is phenomenal and I love having EQ. Anyone have insights on how this will compare? I'd love a portable amp that could provide decent power for my LCD-2Cs.

If I understand your question correctly, you are basically bypassing bluetooth and use your speakers wired. Then this DAC would help but how much it would help depends on your speakers.

Wish they had the black phono preamp at that price.

I also have Qudelix5k and I also loved to geek out with its EQ until I realized that no matter how I tweak it, sound quality never goes much above 'decent'. This iFi device is basically opposite of Qudelix5k - there is absolutely nothing modern or 'high tech' about it and its phone integration, but it does have good baseline sound quality. I do not think those two devices compete at all - they are for a very different use-cases. When I want to listen on the go, I grab Qudelix without thinking, when I want quality sound that is relatively portable (but not 'on the go'), I choose iFi without much thinking either.

This is a great small one for the value and the quality. I tried many dac/amp from ifi, they do know what the good sound is! I really loved this one, and mostly used for audeze, sennheirser. Enough power to druve them with good sound.

Genuinely wondering, what is the use case of portable but not on the go?
I had the first edition iDsD that's ended up being used as desktop dac until I upgraded
I got qudelix 5k to power tia trio / shichiku kangen when moving about and E70V & L70 for desktop to power Abyss diana tc / verite closed. I wonder when device like this may come into play

I take this and Fostex TR-XOO to work (office job) and do not want to leave them, or at least would stow in locker when away.

The Mojo 2 is better than most portable DACs/amps. If you have the money to buy the Mojo I think it would be the better choice. You could also consider the Mojo 1 which sounds a bit warmer than the Mojo 2, but the Mojo 2 is a bit more detailed.
