Yes, but may need to copy the 512GB to the 1TB using Macrium or other cloning programs to keep your OS, programs, and settings.

Better option might be to add a 2.5" SSD/HD since the 3520 provides the space, cable and carrier.

See attached.

This is so easy to do using Macrium or Aomei Backupper!

S mode is not real windows, it's like a kiosk-style that only gives you very censored access to the machine. No support for normal x86 x64 programs like normal windows (depending on your version) and most services are degraded to just being internet-hosted anything so if you aren't connected to fast internet, the thing is useless. You need to full-out uninstall windows 11 entirely and reinstall windows 10. Don't worry about their toothless threats about lack of support, the problem they've introduced is one they will fix, but selling you junk that will never work without considerable workaround is atrocious and they should be banned from being able to destroy the planet for profit, especially when that profit RELIES on the fact that the product is programmed to become obsolete within 5 years.

To all of that, what is your current computer and have you thought about reading a book rather than spending more money and making your existing computer functional instead?

I will apologize in advance for this reply, but: lighten up, Francis!

The guy asked a legitimate question and admitted to not knowing much about Win 11 S mode. What makes you think that he would feel comfortable taking your advice and dumping Win 11 and installing Win 10?

Several others have noted how to get out of S mode, and yes, it is easy. I would advise the guy to do a quick search, go to the MS site and follow the instructions.

I would not recommend buying from Best Buy. I ordered a LEGO set from them with a $10 reward certificate. Believe it or not, they sent the LEGO set (medium size) in a plastic envelope, not a shipping box, so of course, it was all destroyed in shipping. I had to go thru the hassle of returns, and they did not restore the $10 reward. At one point, they said they would, but it never happened, and I am not wasting time again calling their customer service.

Will this touch screen model also eventually have the hinge failure issue? I'd already talked myself out of the non-touch version from Micro Center for that reason.

check your reward point balance, it's likely there.
they do not give you another rewards, it just goes back to your points balance, which you can then request the reward certificate again

Very easy to prevent the hinge failure issue.

Just pry off the hinge covers, and slightly loosen the over-torqued hinge nuts. I've had my Dell Inspiron for 2 years now, and no issue with the hinges with this fix.

See attached.

Isn't this a better deal for $299 (same Dell Inspiron with i5-1235u, 8gb, 512gb) ?
https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/c...n3520grzzs

i actually prefer non-touch screen. but must have usb-C for dual monitor setup using a usb-hub for easy on-off

No USB C seems like an odd choice, but nice to have 3 regular USB
No usbc. Less people buy. Stock does not move. Price drop.

Got to get rid of those older led/lcd panels & laptop chassis and Black Friday sales are the way to clear them out. There are still (1366 x 768) & (1600 x 900) laptops being sold!
Old people with bad eyes and less money still buy those screens. I used 720p on a 17-inch before. It is fine. It's easier to gaming on a cheap laptop. I have used 43 inch 4k tv as an external monitor. Less ppi (is my math right?)

Thanks. I checked. Neither the reward, nor the points are there. All 0.

Thanks for posting this Smilie .. I was wondering, what this guy does in his video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsVWQoaZNls

do you basically do what he did in the video? Looks like there's a tool you need to buy to unscrew the stuff he did on the hinges and.. even more frightening from my point of view Smilie .. disassemble the laptop to a certain degree to get at the hinges.

I've gone into laptops before and removed wifi cards to install a hard drive and disconnected speaker ports but have never removed a laptop from the screen part with the intention of putting it back in later on - it kind of scares me Smilie

That guy on YouTube makes things so hard. I think he does it to scare people to use his services.

There is no need to take apart the laptop.

Pry off the hinge covers using a small flat-blade screwdriver. Use needle-nose pliers to slightly loosen the hinge nuts, no nut drivers needed. Then, pop back on the hinge covers. Easy-Peasy.
