Has anyone ever seen a hub like this but with a much longer cable or replaceable cable? I'd like all this hidden under the desk and just a cable I can plug my laptop into.

Thanks
Look under docking stations. Thats what they call them at work, but it's exactly as you described. Also has several different types of connections.

Why would anyone want USB 2.0 ports?

USB 3.0 high frequency interference can be bad for wireless or audio devices.

anyways 30hz 4k meh

I think they simply didn't update the product specs page. They have an official unboxing video where they also specify 4k60 and 100W PD.

For $8, I think it's worth a look.

I picked this up on the last sale but I missed that it doesn't have ethernet input so sending it back. FYI for anyone else who thought this was an all-in-one dock at first glance.

Fair enough, but at $8 for a somewhat name brand hub and at this size, I wouldn't expect ethernet. I don't see anything on Amazon with ethernet at this price, and the stuff that's even close is from absolute no-names.

Plus this SD listing is clear about the ports, so it shouldn't be a problem for anyone in on this particular deal. You could just look at the picture on this one if you were in a rush.

Just get a USB A to ethernet. They are really cheap and you have plenty of ports.

I got this last week for my son to use as a dock for his laptop / schoolwork. It could be that he has a really weird monitor but after almost sending it back I finally was able to get it working at 1440p / 30hz.

Since the monitor would go dark with an unsupported refresh rate (60 didn't work) I would have to remote control in with a streamer like Splashtop and mess with the refresh rates to get the signal to come back.

The fact that he can plug in with one cable and get his laptop charging, acceptable monitor resolution, and keyboard/mouse makes this seem well worth the price.. higher refresh would be nice but again this could be related to his funky monoprice monitor..
