The Denon X3800 should be this price every day, IMO

Decent price on Denon X6800
Too high on the Onkyo RZ70 based on many deals that have been available recently

Potential Best Buy price match as well if you can do a screen shot of the pricing

If you were waiting for the $899 on the 3800, this is a no brainer especially if you get Best Buy to price match!

If you're running more than one sub the 3800 is a steal at this price in that aspect.
It offers Dirac Live Bass Control like subwoofer integration for up to 4 subs!

You also have access to A1EVO which many find it gives you Dirac Live like performance.
Only cost you the $20 Editor app which is a must have anyways imo.

IF you still feel you need Dirac, you have the option for both but unlikely especially for the $600 cost!

I have this Denon and very disappointed with its handling of HDMI inputs. It has a complete mind of its own - some days it will switch automatically to the source on which the power is turned on and on other days, it refuses to switch even when I ask it to switch with the remote. The good thing lately has been that it doesn't power on and seems to just through the dvd - this way my son doesn't have. To come ask me to do the switch inputs (which I don't expect to work). It is a sad state of affairs when you want a $1000'ish piece of junk to remain off so that you don't have to deal with its brain dead logic. Denton wouldn't even remember the two zone settings - they expect you to manually enable zone 2 every time. How hard is it for a device to remember its last settings? Worst piece of electronics that I have bought in years.

Sorry you got a lemon, every brand has a failure rate.
It does come with a three-year warranty if you bought it from a authorized dealer. I would contact Denon and see what they can do.

I use the receiver as the hub and turn CEC and related settings off on ALL devices because they can behave in an unpredictable manner. Unfortunately each manufacturer implements these features differently so it is very common for them to not work consistently well together. It's not so much a Denon issue as an industry wide issue.

Luckily it isn't difficult for me (or my wife) to turn on/wake up the desired device and then select the input on the Denon remote for either/both of the two zones that we want to use with it. Works every time with no confusion or drama. Which is exactly how I like it to function.

Turn off CEC. That is usually the culprit.

He didn't get a lemon-he still subscribes to the religion of CEC. Honestly, I don't know any brand that has CEC working perfectly (too many different brands talking to each other). The issues he's describing is certainly not specific to "Denton" but could impact any brand!

I updated the original post. The 3800 is now $899. The prices and availability are fluctuating. I can checkout the 3800 online for in store pickup or free parcel shipping in the Dallas area. Also added ymmv in the title.
