The 10ah battery is also on sale for $349. So if you got the station that isn't bundled with the batteries for $489 and then added the single 10ah battery for $350, it would bring it close to the same price ($840). So my question is which is better? The unit with two 7.5 amp our batteries or the unit with a single 10 amp hour battery? I hear the 10 amp hour battery has a better warranty and is built better.

Anyone have thoughts on this? Looks like it's worth it if you need the batteries. Which I do.

ok, this is third party battery. new to the ego game, sounds like these are spotty at best.
Amazon has the 10ah for $191 now https://a.co/d/4syqQ91

That is absolutely NOT an EGO battery. It's a knockoff 3rd party.

I've been running a offbrand ego battery for my mower and it's been fine, so far. I've had it since this spring and mow once a week.

It may not be crap but can you trust the 3rd party batteries when you need it the most.

My bigger concern with cheaper/offbrand batteries is the risk of fire.

YMMV, the vast majority of them are safe and at most lying about the capacity and cycles they will last, but when you start getting things that may not have gone through the proper engineering and testing it does increase the risk of actually dangerous defects.

At the end of the day I decided long ago the couple hundred dollars savings are not worth risking my condo and safety.

Either I have enough justification for owning it that I should spend the money for something high quality I am confident has actually gone through the various safety certifications or I don't really need it at all.

My primary issue with this power station is that it does not allow simultaneous charge and discharge at the same time. It seems like a silly limitation and makes it hard to consider this vs similar units from other vendors.

If you have lots of Ego batteries lying around this might be ok. But that limitation kills it for me.

If you don't care about that and have Ego batteries it's a solid device.

The 2, 7.5 amps last longer wouldn't they? So why get the 10 amp if it's going to not last as long? You can also charge 1, 7.5 amp while the other is being used and have little to no downtime vs having no backup for the single 10 amp.

Exactly the reason I won't buy one. They've had this on the market for years and still haven't made pass through charging available.

They've clearly learned their lesson because their 400W inverter does support pass through charging. Maybe it's a technical limitation with the larger Nexus that won't allow it. Either way despite having several Ego batteries I still won't buy the big power station.

yeah, i am tempted because i have a lot of ego batteries and could use a couple more 7.5ah batteries. I live in rural MN and do lose power occasionally so this would be slick. But I just know that as soon as i buy this thing, they'll release an updated version that has the pass through charging and more powerful usb-c ports!

at 699 i'd probably jump

If you have solar you can charge the batteries with and have a good bit of batteries then this could be very useful in a prolonged blackout situation. I got one and have not had the opportunity to use it yet to keep the fridge running smoothly
