I don't understand why they had to change to paper cups -- and then charge $1 more (the Styrofoam ones are often $6.45). Okay, I guess paper is biodegradable so that's good. But there's no reason to not put the Styrofoam cups in the microwave. They can certainly withstand 212°F, the boiling point of water.

I've been microwaving my styrofoam noodle cups for over a decade. The official instructions to pour boiling water in and then waiting 3 mins is too time consuming. Boiling water probably takes 3-5 mins (and the stove) so that's a total of 6-8 minutes. In contrast, microwaving takes only TWO minutes total. You don't even have the wait to eat after taking it out of the microwave. And there's no need to use a pot.
