You're not wrong but the effect is minor. Unless your foaming soap is located in a sauna you will have no real world consequences over the life time of a foaming dispenser. Of course you should clean and sanitize the bottle when empty, before making a new batch (which I recommend for standard hand soap containers also).

Why would someone pay this much when I can buy dish detergent for about a dollar and mix with water to do the same thing?

I don't disagree. It was a bit....weird. The texture was also...weird. I like to know that my hands are clean and when I used this refill it would feel very "gloopy". When you're washing raw meat hands you don't want to just think it's clean so that resulted in me just using dawn instead.

I love fancy soaps but not all fancy soaps are good soaps. I can't recommend this.
