How does this compare to the Walmart $40 one that was recently on sale?

Bought this a couple weeks ago. The sound is pretty darn good and very loud. Easily fills a large room or backyard. I use it to play music while drumming (with earplugs) and it's perfect. Too bassy for my taste at first but easy to adjust. Def worth $90.

It looks like the boom 2 plus is 140 watts vs 80 , for 2x the price .

Double the watts comes at double the weight , the smaller coming in at 3.6lbs va 8.38.

Play time advertised as the same.

Any other notable differences?

No, the soundcore Boom original version was recently on clearance at Walmart for $39 (and then close out sale for $29) during Walmart's sale. This is the Boom 2, so assume there have been some improvements, but not sure it really would make it worthwhile considering the price difference.

Main thing I saw is the subwoofer passive radiator design is different, and they switched the location of the LeDs from the front speakers to the side woofers.

I was interested as well because I bought the select pro for $40. According to this: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/ques...4272087eef

The select pro is rated at 30W while the boom 2 is rated at 80W. I was impressed with the select pro. It got much louder than expected for the size and didn't distort. Still, the boom 2 for just over double the price seems like a great deal.

I got the Walmart $40 speaker and returned. I wasn't impressed with the sound. It was muddy and not loud for any sort of outdoor activity, like soccer, BBQ, or anything louder than camping.

I bought the boom 2, so hopefully this one is better.

How do these compare to the Original Boom? They've been the best speakers I've ever owned and still kicking despite being beat to shit from Kayaking/Camping trips.

I have the soundcore boom plus 1st gen and it's an exceptional speaker despite the hard plastic case. If you function > aesthetics, you will not be disappointed.

Can this work just plugged in even if the battery dies? I just need it for when I'm in the bathroom taking a shit or taking a shower.

You can totally use app and adjust sound using EQ. I just purchased it last week on Walmart deal and that's the first thing I changed. I really like it especially for $40.
Nice, I'll update for that. Wish Soundcore would mention that speaker in their App's supported products. From sound samples online it's very close sounding to the Motion Boom.

is it worth buying the boom 2 if you have the original one from last year? Is there a night and day difference or is it 1% better?
It definitely has deeper bass and gets a little louder, but it's hard to say if it's worth it or not. Personally I'd just step up to the Stormbox Blast which is in a different league.

Is there anything that you have heard that you can say was impressive for your use cases?

First, big thumbs up to Drewm427's post. Appreciate the massive number of speakers you've taken the time to share thoughts on.

I recently purchased a pair of the Soundcore Select Pro speakers from the $39 Walmart deal primarily to gift them, but also to see how they sound versus the relatively price. Seeing this deal, I ordered Anker's top-of-the-line Boom 2 Plus since summer is here and I'd been planning picking up a new waterproof boombox. After reading a few reviews post-purchase, I'm thinking I might order the $90 Boom 2 and try my own comparisons against the $180 Boom 2 Plus I already ordered.

I stumbled onto a couple videos from a YT reviewer I've watched a few times in the past. It's just one person's opinion, but like Drewm427, he has very positive things to say about the smaller Boom 2 versus its bigger and more expensive sibling. Anyhow, a few links -

I'm kinda surprised that rtings hasn't really taken the time to review more Soundcore speakers given the heavy promotion (and likely sales) they get on Amazon.
