I have the MSI Codex R Desktop: i5-13400F, RTX 4060 8GB, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD https://dealquestnow.online/share/iphone_app/fp/895288

Is this a worthwhile RAM upgrade?

Or would the 2 x 16 for $64.99 be a better fit?

This post is for Corsair DDR4, the MSI Codex R Desktop that you referenced above is DDR5 so while upgrading from 16 to 64 is worthwhile, you my friend, cannot take advantage of this particular deal.

This is the webpage [msi.com]for the motherboard in the deal that you posted, it states that you have 4 slots available. If you do decide to upgrade, you can buy 2 more sticks of DDR5 RAM and add it to the 16 that's in there currently. 2 more 8's = 32 GB total, 2 more 16's = 48 GB total, etc.

Greatly appreciate the info! I've also heard that if I get two more 8s I should get the exact same ram.

Correct if you have 4 dim slots. But 32GB is the current minimum for gaming but soon it will be 64GB due to the realistic looking UE5 games that are coming out next year. So if it was me i would get 2 x 16Gb now and another 2 x 16Gb later on for future proofing.

The same RAM would be the best for compatibility, if you can't get the same brand, try to get the same speed which is 5600. Faster DDR5 RAM won't benefit you any with your motherboard's chipset.

Belarc Advisor or Speccy are free trial programs that you can download once you get your computer to find out more info about your system components if you are worried about voiding warranties by opening up prebuilt computers.
