Primer is also used to help the new layer of paint better adhere to the old layer. Have you noticed it's not a glossy finish? It's fairly rough texture. Paint needs something to cling on to. Not a crazy concept.
If your new layer didn't properly adhere to the old one, hanging things with a Command strip will lead to patches of paint coming off.
yea but i never said the command strip was pulling paint off did I!!! I mean If they were pulling off the paint or part of my wall then they would be sticking too well which would be a whole other issue then the one I described ! I said the command strips weren't sticking well!! If your going to formulate theories as to what happened, effective reading of what happened is key not making up opinions as to what happened based upon your made up version of what actually went on! Anyways no point in further discussion, If I try a product and it doesnt work well for me I move on. I own my house and will just use nails in the future. Nail holes are easy to repair in drywall if I ever want to and no reason to use command strips or problem solve their failure further!
