I have both a 787 and it's big brother the 887. I did a project placing 60 joist hangers for 2x12s into dry wood, and I used Simpson screws vs nails. If I recall I sunk 10 2.5" per hanger, and 6 1.5". That's 600 and 360 screws total over 3 nights (it's slow). I started with one driver and ran it till it was too hot to touch, then I'd switch to the other. The 887 had more power, but the 787 did everything I asked of it and held its own. At this price point it's a great spare driver if you're in the dewalt system.

I've been very happy with the 887! Bought it for electrical work. It's been a beast! Built mom's shed with it. I have no experience with this, though.

I've built decks, dropped it off ladders, and use it for some auto work. This thing is like a Glock or Toyota Corolla of cordless power tools.
