"German Engineered" = Made in China.

That said, I have this pan in both 10" and 8" versions. It's good quality for the price. So I'd recommend it. But don't let the marketing copy fool you into thinking it's something more fancy than it is.

Head over to TJX: same sized AllClad for less. (Unless it's a lower quality/grade of AllClad made just for discount stores)

TJX historically has lots of AllClad during the winter months.

Big fan of All Clad but their non-stick pans are so-so. Prefer Oxo myself.

My "designed in California / made in china" iPhone 15 pro max is pretty fancy. If they can build a phone like this, a frying pan should be easy! 🤣

I'm more worried about the nonstick coating flaking off because of cheap quality. Looking at the customer review pics on Amazon, I'm going to pass because the coating looks like it's not high quality. I still have a fabulous $40 scanpan made in Denmark from Sur la table with no flaking, bubbling, chipping of the nonstick coating after 7yrs of use.

I'd think if Americas test kitchen says it's ok, it's ok. They're meticulous.

Yeah, but this isn't a high-tech pocket computer networking with satellites in space. It's a pan. LOL!

It's fine for what it is, and good for the price, but it's nothing fancy.

It's looks nice, has a riveted handle, and gets America's test kitchen recommendation. That's fancy to me. What else could anyone ask for? Made from Unobtainium? Lol.

They all last a few years and all are made with some derivative of PFAS .I would not pay more than $25ish for a nonstick pan, if I bought nonstick pans.

These are not induction-capable pans (unlike the Oxo models with an added steel plate on the bottom of the aluminum skillets). Costco had a duo set of 10.5" and 12" induction-capable frying pans on sale for $30 (regular price is about $39 there).

What does the "Made In" brand mean when they say "FDA-Approved Coating"

The newer "Professional" branded and "ceramic non-stick" Oxo frying pans are described by Oxo as being PFAS free, unlike the older versions.

All-Clad does seem to warranty its non-stick pans for life BUT has these listed exclusions:

Quote :
Exclusions this warranty does not cover:
...

• Discoloration, warping, or metal separation due to high heat or prolonged heat exposure when empty, or non-stick deterioration that occurs from misuse or abuse.
...
• Damage caused by use of scouring pads, steel wool, abrasive cleaners, or bleach.
• Nonstick damage caused by metal or sharp utensils.

That said, I don't know of anyone who has made a warranty claim on an All-Clad pan, non-stick or clad.

It just means the non-stick coating, such as teflon, is approved to be used in contact with food:
