This is so sad. I had a 60 inch elite back in the day (pre kuro models). Even then nothing even came close to it!

Didn't even know Pioneer was still around. Reminds me of way back when I would always install a new CD player on any new car (or new to me at least) and I always went with Pioneer. Now I really feel old

They are still in the home theater business and their line of AVR's (notably the Elite series) are quite decent.

This comment made me wonder if certain TV brands like this one only seem to exist during specific times like black Friday where people will buy anything assuming they believe they're getting a great deal no matter the brand name. Rest of the year sales probably don't otherwise come close... Which screams 3rd party to me. Akin to the pop up Halloween stores that only sell costumes and disappear the rest of the year.

Just my assumption, it seems among budget level tvs ones like Onn, pioneer, Westinghouse, Phillips, etc seem to be on a lower tier in quality compared to next group of hisense, tcl and maybe insignia.

Pioneer is top of the line for DJ equipment. If they do make their own TVs, then would be interesting to see what kind of quality these are… but I will let others be the guinea pigs of that.
