True that the OG does not work with cam plus light. Without a subscription you will get motion notifications with a still picture only which is not ideal. You can view live video at any time. If you add a SD card you can click on SD Card playback to review past video.
I have these under my house to be able to view my well pump, pressure tank, hot water heater areas to be able to check on those without crawling under the house. Also the motion detection helps to alert me of mice, snakes or other critters under there.
I didn't post the $15 deal because it has garbage hardware probably would die after 1 year.
