about $14/TB

CCC indicates only once this price back in march
I can't tell you which of those options is better. Each has it's perks.

But if you want to use the drive in-house/on-prem similar to Dropbox/Google Drive app, you can install Syncthing on each system and configure what folders you want backed up. It will back up changes to the other system over the network - and even do file versioning. Great app, and free to use. No reoccurring cost and no remote (cloud) storage required.

Let me know when you find a 20TB SSD for less than $300 there sport!

Thanks! The 16tb Easystore at Bestbuy was also on sale for around $14=TB so I grabbed that one instead of the 20.

Thanks guys! I stand corrected. Was able to order it on Amazon for the sale price even though the item page in search results showed $379 when I ordered (unlike an hour ago when it was showing $279 there too):

I suspect Amazon may have changed it to $379 on the description page so scripts from competitors see the non-sale price, which may be what triggered Best Buy to go 'OOS' at that time.

As someone above posted, once I added it to cart it went back to the sale price. Thanks!

Note - When I checked an hour or so ago, even the Amazon item page showed the $279 sale price, so that definitely changed... (now showing $379 as noted).

For larger capacity it's the same as WD Red Pro or similar.

20TB WD Red Pro has been on sale for $300 each a few times this year. Add 12% cash back from paypal and you get same price. Also comes with 5 year warranty.

To me it doesn't make sense to shuck these.

If history is any indicator, WD will stop software support/ critical updates in couple of years, and this expensive NAS will become a rock. WD did that to EX pro line NAS last year, and simply said, buy a new one on your own dime.
Its not a NAS and its not like it would stop working without updates.

$10/TB or less is a deal.

This is the normal price it should be.

Anyone have experience using this with MBP?
these drives all work the same. format it correctly and you are good to go. Although, this is NOT a portable drive that you want to keep in your bag and commute with. More like "leave at your desk at home" and plug it in when you need it.

Same price on B&H. Plus the 16 tb is only 14 dollars per terabyte as well. Payboo will save me quite a bit so I'm going with them.
