Its cooled with a giant 2D vapor chamber (as opposed to heatpipes like most laptops) and two unobstructed fans. Asus did not cut any corners here, and it puts other premium 13" laptops to shame.

But using the 3050 on battery (outside of short bursts for compute) is not very practical.

This has never been below the $1000 mark for new.
The one you're talking about is the other model without the dGPU or the open-box.
Wow, a 12900h and 3050ti in a tiny 2.6lb laptop. How is that even possible. Crazy specs for such a small laptop.

You're right. It was an open box.

Has anyone used this with a third party EGPU. I know about the XG module and I'm not interested in it.

I would hope it would work but the xg mobile/armory crate software could cause issues. I've only ever used the xg mobile, which is overpriced but also way overbuilt in features. nvidia charges OEMs a lot for the 16gb 3080 mobile, basically double the unit price of the 8gb mobile 3080, plus the fact that its a niche product that won't move large volumes so they have to cover production tooling costs on fewer units, so the $1500 asking price is too much. when it goes on sale for $1100, its an absolute buy from me, but only if you need a single compact machine that can replace a moderately powerful gaming desktop, a gaming laptop, and a wacom cintiq tablet. there's far better values out there unless you are using all the features fully.

Yeah, the XG is the more elegant solution but the $/performance is just too low. Recently upgraded my GPU and have a 3080 laying around. I was hoping to use the 3080 with this z13.

Don't game without being plugged in, you won't last long. But great specs for the price imho.

My x13 can play starfield at 30fps low. I haven't played since the new driver update this week. It doesn't look great, but I found it playable enough

I hooked up a 3090 via a Razer egpu unit.

Worked great with the included thunderbolt cable. Refused to recognize the card if I used anything longer than the original one.

The 2023 model actually has a 13900H and a 4050 mobile. That might not seem like a big step up but in fact when operated at low wattages as in this little device it performs twice as fast in games due to the better energy efficiency of the RTX 4000 series GPUs.

There's even a model with a 4060 (very hard to find) and a somewhat bizarre ACRNM model with a 4070.

Indeed it's the most powerful computer I know of in this size … with the keyboard detached it weighs as much as a MacBook Air.

I would suggest the 2023 model for that with the 4050 mobile GPU. It can play these games at 1080p medium / high settings at 30 - 60fps. The 3050 Ti in the 2022 model (this model) is going to struggle at these games especially with limited the TDP in this device. I'm sure you could play them but you'd have to compromise somewhere on the settings …
