The unit that Best Buy is selling is an older submodel of the Sonicare 4100 line. Per some brief research, it appears this "ProtectiveClean" unit has superior battery life, a bigger handle, a two prong power cable (instead of USB), a larger charging base, higher oscillation frequency, and only one brushing strength setting. Similar in all other ways to the Sonicare 4100.

Interesting. My hygienist and dentist always tell me how great of a job I'm doing and I've have this toothbrush for about 3 years.

Your dentist will be happy to receive your money for cavities. Worst one I have used. The Oral B deal is good.
May depend if your dentist is an "expert."

"Some electric toothbrushes vibrate back and forth, some have more of an oscillating, or rotating, motion. We asked all the dental experts we spoke to if certain brushes could remove more plaque than others. They all said the type of brush doesn't matter." - Wirecutter

Sure, a toilet scrubber can remove plaque even, but if we're talking how long does it take to remove that plaque. They don't even mention nano-hydroxyapatite. Those experts are quacks. Oscillation is where it's at
Could you elaborate more on oscillation cleaning? I've found that back and forth etoothbrushes are much better at cleaning

Weird how they're offering ship to store at a bunch of locations around me but not the one closest to me. Doesn't seem like any of them have it in stock for same day pickup.

what's the advantage of having one of those expensive models vs these cheap ones?

I've had a cheap one ($30 in 2014 iirc) for almost 10 years and it's doing the job

Nothing, they're all the same thing moving bristles. But companies gotta keep upselling you

Generics are (as usual) perfectly acceptable and (as usual) much cheaper.
They just lack the brush replacement reminder "feature."

Same. Been using Sonicare since they came out. I switched to OralB briefly but the round brush head seemed to have trouble reaching spots in my mouth Frown
