Isn't this a better deal? Not sure if the shampoo and conditioner is much different than OP's

Clarifying shampoo is good for getting chlorine out of light colored hair. Maybe why it's on sale?

This is not a good price for this. Walgreens had great deals on this with $5 coupon and $10 back in Walgreen rewards making it less than $12 even considering their ridiculous regular pricing.

This is not a bad shampoo for daily use as it doesn't dry out the hair like some other clarifying shampoos recommended only for weekly use. It doesn't have too much of crap.

But then this is almost the same as much cheaper Pantene Clean shampoo

https://www.amazon.com/Pantene-Sh...B09GTZMG61

Nexxus these days is basically Pantene level shampoo at salon like prices relying on their past glory but having screwed up almost every formulation they had for profit.

Didn't realize it was that literal. So is this not a good option for just normal hair washing?

It's a different type of shampoo than the one linked. Clarifying shampoo strips your hair of all the products you use, in my case all the products I use to keep my curls sleek and not frizzy.

Isn't that the purpose of all shampoos? My limited knowledge is shampoo is for cleaning your hair of everything, and conditioner is to re-add the important stuff that you just stripped with the shampoo.

Unfortunately no, regular shampoo isn't as harsh as clarifying shampoo, in fact clarifying shampoo can also strip your colored hair too, so you have to be careful not to use it if you use toner in your hair.

It is ...I personally love it and definitely can feel/see a difference vs. other products I've tried.

NEXUS is a lesser brand for those not familiar with it. I noticed a difference when using it. My hair didn't come out as soft nor as shiny. You get what you pay for.

Agreed. I just picked this up on the last deal and it just doesn't wash as well as other shampoos. I feel like I have to use a lot more of this stuff to get my hair feeling as clean.

I won't be buying another bottle.

EDIT - I was one of the folks unfamiliar with the brand.

I am not sure you know the history of Nexxus at all.

They were one of the older non mass market brands for salon products since late 70s with a good reputation for their products. Along with their sister brand Phyto Organics they did some really good stuff without compromising on ingredients. Used them for a decade. They were bought by Alberto-Culver but that didn't seriously affect the product. When Uniliver bought A-C they totally ruined every product Nexxus had using cheap ingredients but large advertising dollars. So, if you used it more recently, you would find them around the level of mass market Pantene but at higher prices.

You actually don't get what you pay for now because they are overpriced.

Its strange to stumble on this, yesterday I ran across Nexxus and was wondering what happened there. I thought maybe I'd imagined that they were a salon product.

Thanks for the background. I've been using Nexxus for 20 years and honestly have not recently noticed a difference in quality, so this thread is a bit surprising. I've been buying Nexxus from Costco for years now so maybe there's a difference there. Either way, what are you now using if not Nexxus?

The Diametress of 20 years ago has no relation to Diametress of today in ingredients regardless of where you bought it. They totally changed the formulation without changing the name about 15 years ago. The effect on hair was immediately noticeable. The new formulation isn't bad but just doesn't have the magic of the previous formulation. Switched to their Phyto Organics Syntress which was similar to the original Diametress. But that product line was subsequently discontinued.

I was using Neutrogena anti-residue for clarifying until they discontinued recently which was a shame. The one in this thread and Kristin Ess have been substitutes. Don't have a consistent go to daily brand these days but keep switching between Biolage and Shea Moisture.
