I bought some of these from Walmart last year and thought they would be a great way to replace my old plastic storage containers...that was until I opened the fridge one morning and found that one of these had exploded for no reason...

I spent 45 minutes cleaning out all of the exploded glass, and had to throw out all of the vegetables and everything else that was covered in shards below this exploded Rubbermaid container.

I didn't even put anything in it that could cause an explosion from temperature changes, I took a room temperature container and added some salsa that I didn't want to get spilled, and I ended up with glass everywhere.

I looked this up online and saw it was common. I sent this info to Walmart and they issued a full refund without having to return anything. Walmart doesn't issue refunds like that unless it is a known issue...

I have a bunch of these, but 1.3-cup, and 3.2-cup are so small that they aren't of much use.

I would get this if you want good size storage.

Have a few sets of these. They're great. Wish I could find a set of the 9.6-cup containers. That's the one size I don't have.

Haha to each their own I guess. We have a bunch of these too and its the 1.3cup that we always wish we had more of, followed by the 3.2. I already have 2 of the 9.6 cup and barely ever use them. I actually might get the 5 pack of the 1.3 cup in the link you posted.

Never had an issue with the glass but was the plastic ones I had one crack all the way through and many others with ugly micro fractures through out

I have q sets of this one in the cupboard and about 15 more containers also between the house and our cabin I love them. I have 4 more of this set downstairs for presents. I bought them at safeway after Christmas on clearance for $6 a box. I bought all they had. As I'd already bought single and new how spend but great they where. I use the small ones almost every night. I take salsa to work in them or olives, cut Cucumber or cheese for a snack. I love these. They had glass ones also but they where $16 a set.

I agree with everyone else here. Definitely plastic. However, if a glass container exploded. It may not be "truly" the fault of the container. There are two likely scenarios. First, is if you put the container way at the back of the fridge... some refrigerators have their cooling coils exposed at the back. Causing your container, and it's contents to freeze. When liquids freeze, they expand. This is not an uncommon cause.

The second scenario is spoilage. Since the containers, like the glass ones, are air tight... any kind of gas expansion can cause them to explode. So, while you put room temperature stuff in the container... as they rot, anaerobic bacteria create gas as a byproduct as they eat your rotting salsa. Typically botulism (like Bo-tox), are major gas makers.

So, while it may be the container... it's less likely than the above two scenarios.

Walmart.com gave me full refunds for some laundry detergents and clothes when I tried to return them through their app. They told me I don't need to return them. I was ready to take them back to the local store. They were not defective or no "known issues" with those items. So, yes, Walmart.com does issue full refunds on products that are not having any issues some times.

I didn't know they had this same series in all plastic...kind of dumb actually.

I liked the glass ones that I had for a short period, but not cleaning the shattered one obviously laugh out loud
