Pressure induction has the pressure cooking feature, which applies pressure at the end of the cycle based on the selected setting. The pressure will force out any excess moisture created during the steam cycle resulting in plumper, fluffier rice.

Does it make a real difference in the end? Depends how serious you are about your rice. But that is the difference.

Note, the pressure cooking feature will not allow you to use it as a regular pressure cooker. It is strictly for making rice.

How big is the difference between this pressure induction heat unit and one that's "only" induction heat like the HCC10XH here? https://www.amazon.com/Zojirushi-...G84O2?th=1

My Tiger JKT-B10 is also Made in Japan and induction compatible. It cost me $140...its also 5.5 cups. Its been absolutely bullet proof in the five years that I have used it with very fluffy rice. It doesnt have as many modes as the higher end models, but for plain rice, brown rice, and oatmeal, its been fabulous.

Exactly once a year give or take, lol. But most of the SDs are for the S10u, which is a higher end machine with more modes (and a slightly thicker pot...THE KEY TO FLAVOR RICE Peace ) They are all around $200 like you mentioned. Costco had it for $220 at one point.

Either way, $399 is...interesting., but I am sure I seem the same way to my friends who use their instant pots to make rice. I cant comment on things I am ignorant of. But I do have parents with a pressure-only rice cooker (a Cuckoo from Korea) to compare to my induction-only rice cooker. My rice is fluffier, but their machine does a MUCH better job with brown rice, is substantially faster, and makes fun choo-choo train sounds when its about to release steam laugh out loud

Not a deal. On sale in the $200's.
No, this particular model has never been below $399 on Amazon. I watched it for most of the second half of 2020 before pulling the trigger at $399 at this time last year.

We had a perfectly good IH Zojirushi we used daily that we bought in 2011, but I knew my mom could use that so I pulled the trigger on this.

Not sure it's worth the price premium over just IH, but it makes fantastic rice, so as someone who's family uses it basically every day, I'm glad I got it.

Post for reference? I mean, I'm personally not in the market for one, but genuinely curious if it was posted on Slickdeals when it dropped to $220 within the past year…..

No. There's a difference between the Zojirushi 5.5 cup, the IH 5.5 cup and pressure IH 5.5 cup models. This particular model is pressure IH and has never been below $399 on Amazon.

I did a blind taste test between this and the "induction only" with several folks and the pressure+induction won with every taster. That being said, the taste difference between the two models was not proportional to the price difference.
