Does it make a real difference in the end? Depends how serious you are about your rice. But that is the difference.
Note, the pressure cooking feature will not allow you to use it as a regular pressure cooker. It is strictly for making rice.

Either way, $399 is...interesting., but I am sure I seem the same way to my friends who use their instant pots to make rice. I cant comment on things I am ignorant of. But I do have parents with a pressure-only rice cooker (a Cuckoo from Korea) to compare to my induction-only rice cooker. My rice is fluffier, but their machine does a MUCH better job with brown rice, is substantially faster, and makes fun choo-choo train sounds when its about to release steam
We had a perfectly good IH Zojirushi we used daily that we bought in 2011, but I knew my mom could use that so I pulled the trigger on this.
Not sure it's worth the price premium over just IH, but it makes fantastic rice, so as someone who's family uses it basically every day, I'm glad I got it.
