The manual (wahl) further explains they calibrate all this at the factory and test on real hair (not attached to a human and cleaned already). If your clippers are noisy (clacking), than the power setting is too high and you should reduce the power. If they are too weak you need to increase the power, but not so much it's noisy. They blame the electricity in your home as the cause of real world performance you experience vs the factory.
If your old clippers were well used you probably need to replace the head for performance to come back(unless it was like a $ store clippers or something). Normally the cost makes it simpler to buy a replacement. Be sure to oil every few cuts and do not clean with water.

This cordless one is very lightweight, almost feels half the weight of the corded one. It feels like a trimmer instead of clippers. The motor feels weak like a trimmer, but it did a better job than my old noisy corded clippers, which by the way also heats up like a mofo. The only downside for me is the lack of a taper lever, otherwise I recommend these.

Cordless is more convenient, but unless you are running a shop your clippers should last a lifetime. I recently replaced some almost 30 year old Wahl hair cutting clippers from a home haircut system with the corded version of this. No battery would have held up that long. I could probably fix those old clippers so they run like new, but normally parts+shipping is cost prohibitive with prices so cheap these days.
