You can get third party spools via Amazon for much much less than the 6-pack for $8.99 from Worx.

Also you can order a spool of hex line and wind up old empty spools yourself and really save some $. I got a 300 foot line for about $15. I've done both of these options in the years I've had a worx trimmer.
This is a only a semi decent deal if you don't mind the older batteries and don't want the new 4.0mah batteries. Also if you only need a trimmer and don't care about any other tools. For only a trimmer you won't need two batteries unless you have an acre or more.

For context I got the combo (trimmer/blower) w/ two 4.0mah batteries in June of 2020 directly from Worx for $184 after a discount down from the list price of $229.

If you wanted to add a tool only blower to this deal you'd be in for at least another $100 which would put you right up there in price for a 4.0 combo directly from Worx.

I mean this to help and not just crap on the deal. Just make sure you know what you're getting and be OK with it.
Np. If you are ever interested in spooling your own just know the line thickness is .065 and it needs to be hex and not regular round or it will wear down quicker and not trim as good.

I got mine on eBay but Amazon will probably have something similar as well.

I had this unit for about a year and I love it. It's not that strong but does the job for residential use. The attached wheel is very helpful with edging and battery life is great. The spools are free for the life of the unit, you just pay for shipping $8.99. I didn't even used one whole spool yet for a whole season.
Aren't spools less than $8.99 for similar level trimmers?

It doesn't sound like the spools are free in that case

I have the $30 Black and Decker trimmer. It is very similar to this (it's so similar that it's plausible that this is just a rebranded version of the Black and Decker) and works very well. You will need both batteries to do most lawns. It takes hours to charge the batteries with the included slow charger, so make sure you charge your batteries before do yard work or you'll be standing around doing nothing. I cut the connector from the charger and attached some small metal pins. I just connect this to my Makita fast charger for my 18V LXT and it charges the batteries up to full in about 15 minutes vs 3 hours for the slow charger.

Already have the lawn mower and blower, plus I bought extra smaller batteries. So I bought one of these without the batteries a few months ago. Does the job for my small yard very well and doesn't use much juice. I love how light these electric trimmers are.

How does the string come out during use? Like do you bang it on the ground for the line or does it come out slowly?

Thanks OP, I already have a trimmer/edger and a blower. The blower is only used for drying my vehicle after a wash as it seems too weak for anything else. If anything the spare batteries make the deal worth it. I'm tempted to gift the edger and a battery to someone and just keep the spare battery as the person I'm thinking of doesn't need but one battery worth of power. A fully charged battery should be enough for one small lot less than 1/2 an acre.

Why would you pay $10 for a spool when you can pay $5 and buy a 100ft refill and just spend about 1 minute and 30 seconds to refill the spool? Keep in mind that $5 roll of timmer line refill can fill probably 20 spools. Unless you're making $400/hour, you're not doing yourself any favors by buying pre-filled spools.

Looking to getting into making my own lawn look "nice" is this a good starter trimmer? I have a small flower bed in my lawn that grass tends to grow over. How long will these batterys last? Is the string easy to feed?
