Got two of these about a month ago and they did nothing for my allergies, and nothing to reduce the dust. On returning, the guy at ups told me he has bad allergies too and recommended the Honeywell HPA200.
I have a few Levoit's around the house and enjoy them -- the one issue I will say with this one though, is it doesn't have any sort of "Auto" mode. This is a needed feature (for me) if you're using it anywhere that the air quality changes (such as if anyone in the house smokes, or if it's used near a kitchen).
The Low/Medium modes are almost silent, the High mode puts out more noise than I would like (and I typically don't mind white noise from fans).
The lack of an auto-mode though, means you need to babysit it and adjust speed manually. Auto mode on their other purifiers is great as it can go from the ultra-low (below "Low" speed) and adjust up through the other speeds as needed, based on the air quality, then move back down to "ultra-low" once the air is clear again).
