Buckle up, Chat GPT here—because the short answer is: "flushable" wipes are mostly a scam, and tampons aren't really flushable either. Here's the dirty truth, plumber-style with a side of science:

🚽 "Flushable" Wipes – Are They Really Flushable?

Nope. Not really.
Despite the marketing lingo, most wipes labeled flushable do not break down the same way toilet paper does. Toilet paper dissolves in water within minutes. Wipes? Not so much.

🔬 What Scientists Say:

Studies from consumer groups, wastewater treatment organizations, and even the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) show that:
• Flushable wipes can take weeks to months to break down (if at all).
• They contribute to fatbergs—massive sewer clogs made of wipes, grease, and other nasty sludge.

👩 🔬 Breakdown Time:

Material Dissolves In Sewer System? Time to Break Down
Toilet Paper ✅ Yes Minutes
"Flushable" Wipes ❌ No (barely) Weeks to months
Baby Wipes ❌ No Months to never
Tampons ❌ No Months to years

🩸 Tampons – Can You Flush Them?

Technically? You can flush anything once. But should you?
Absolutely not. Tampons are made to absorb water, not break down in it. Once flushed, they:
• Expand and clog pipes.
• Can jam up septic tanks and grinder pumps (even your badass grinder can get wrecked eventually).
• Cause backflow problems in sewer systems.

Yet yes, a lot of people do flush them, often because packaging used to say it was okay. It's not.

🏠 Grinder Pumps, Sewer, and Septic Systems – What's the Deal?
1. Grinder pump: Shreds waste before pushing it to the main sewer. It helps but is not invincible—wipes can still jam it.
2. Municipal sewer: Better at handling wipes than septic—but still clogs and causes big-money maintenance issues.
3. Septic tank: Never flush wipes or tampons. They don't break down and will mess up the biological balance, leading to backups and expensive pump-outs.

🧻 TL;DR:
• "Flushable" wipes ≠ flushable. Toss 'em in the trash.
• Tampons? Also trash-bound.
• Grinder? Helpful, but not wipe-proof.
• Septic tank? Treat it like a delicate ecosystem.

Final Verdict:

If it's not pee, poo, or toilet paper, don't flush it.
Unless you're trying to make friends with your local plumber (and drain your wallet), keep that trash can nearby.
Don't flush any wipes!

Still always cheaper at the dollar tree. An that means probably cheaper at the dollar general. For 72 packs usually in stock too. 15 years ago the dollar tree ones you had to find which ones worked. But haven't had that issue since. So that's around $6 for 320. An im pretty sure DG has them for less, without using the $5 off $25 coupon.

I'm going to flush five wipes every time someone posts this, so I'm going to need to snag a bunch of these 336-packs.

My plumber agrees with never flushing these things but …

The packs are just the right size to hide in your pocket and take them and flush at the houses of people you don't like.... 😂

Flushing Cottonelle wipes for nearly 15 years, same toilet, sometimes 2-3 at a time. Thousands and thousands of wipes, nothing is wrong. Not even weaker flushes.

Note these are small (6.7 in x 8.0 in). If you want something larger (7.5 in x 12.5 in), I recommend the McKesson Washcloth Wipes for Adults.

You "did your own research", am I right?
